Signs of Cold Temperatures in Western serviceberry
Symptoms
Western serviceberry tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures are above 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 30℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new leaves.
Signs of High Temperatures in Western serviceberry
Symptoms
In summer, Western serviceberry should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures go above 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in color, their tips could dry and wither, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Cut off any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot that offers protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
