Signs of Cold Stress in California sagebrush
Symptoms
California sagebrush tolerates cold well and flourishes best when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, while no immediate changes might be visible in winter, reduced or absent sprouting could occur in spring.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that have not sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in California sagebrush
Symptoms
In summer, California sagebrush should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures go above 80℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, curl, become prone to sunburn, and in severe instances, the whole plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
