Japanese camellia tolerates cool conditions moderately well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, its foliage might begin to sag. Minor cases can recover, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before future cold spells, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or burlap, and build a windbreak to shield it from harsh winds.

Symptoms
In summer, Japanese camellia should be kept below 70℉. When temperatures surpass 75℉, the leaves' color fades, their tips may dry and shrivel, they might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade net to provide cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
