Signs of Cold Stress in Lawson's cypress
Symptoms
Lawson's cypress tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 50℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 45℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
During spring, remove any dead branches that have not developed new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Lawson's cypress
Symptoms
In summer, Lawson's cypress should be kept below 60℉. When temperatures rise above 70℉, the plant's leaves may lighten in hue, their tips might dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade fabric to provide cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
