Signs of Cold Stress in Carnation
Symptoms
Carnation tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures are above 60℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 40℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, reduced or absent sprouting could occur in spring.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that have not sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in Carnation
Symptoms
During summer, Carnation should be kept below 70℉. When temperatures exceed 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, curl, be prone to sunburn, and in severe cases, the whole plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
