Signs of Cold Stress in Sweet fennel
Symptoms
Sweet fennel tolerates cool temperatures moderately well, flourishing optimally between 60℉ and 70℉. In colder months, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, foliage may darken. Extreme cold can lead to water-soaked tissue death, wilting, drooping, and a gradual browning of leaves.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for protection from cold. When indoors, position it near a south-facing window for adequate light. If natural light is insufficient, provide additional illumination.
Signs of Heat Stress in Sweet fennel
Symptoms
In summer, Sweet fennel should be maintained below 70℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, plant development slows, leaf coloration fades, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any scorched or desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the afternoon sun. Water the plant during the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
