Signs of Cold Temperatures in Wintergreen
Symptoms
Wintergreen tolerates cold well and flourishes when temperatures are above 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, while no immediate changes might be seen in winter, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of High Temperatures in Wintergreen
Symptoms
In summer, Wintergreen should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures go above 80℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, tips could dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and dried sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
