Signs of Cold Stress in Japanese privet
Symptoms
Japanese privet tolerates cold well and flourishes when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 30℉, while no immediate winter changes may be apparent, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that have not produced new foliage.

Symptoms
During summer, Japanese privet should be maintained below 70℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves may lighten in hue, tips might dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
