Signs of Cold Stress in Chinese Fan Palm
Symptoms
Chinese Fan Palm favors warm conditions and cannot withstand low temperatures. It flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 68℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, its foliage might lose some color. Following frost damage, the leaves progressively turn brown or black, and signs like wilting and drooping can appear.
Solutions
Remove the sections damaged by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm setting for protection against cold. Position the plant near a south-facing window to ensure sufficient light exposure. Furthermore, keep the plant away from heating units or air conditioning vents to prevent excessive air dryness.
Signs of Heat Stress in Chinese Fan Palm
Symptoms
In summer, Chinese Fan Palm should be kept below 86℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, the foliage color fades, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sunburned and desiccated portions. Transfer the plant to an area that offers protection from the intense midday and afternoon sun. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
