Signs of Cold Stress in Reed canary grass
Symptoms
Reed canary grass tolerates cold well and grows optimally above 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 40℉, while winter changes might be unnoticeable, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that did not sprout successfully.
Signs of Heat Stress in Reed canary grass
Symptoms
During summer, Reed canary grass should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, leaves may lighten, curl, suffer sunburn, and in severe cases, the plant may wilt and dry out completely.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot shaded from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to keep the soil damp.
