Signs of Cold in Live oak
Symptoms
Live oak tolerates cold moderately and flourishes best when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 40℉. If the temperature drops below 20℉, leaves might begin to sag. Mild cases can recover, but severe cases lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections. Before further cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from cold gusts.
Signs of Heat in Live oak
Symptoms
In summer, Live oak should remain below 85℉. When temperatures surpass 100℉, leaves lighten in color, tips may dry and shrivel, leaves might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Cut off sunburned and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering shade from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for protection. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
