Signs of Cold Stress in Bloodroot
Symptoms
Bloodroot tolerates cold well and flourishes best when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that have not sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in Bloodroot
Symptoms
In summer, Bloodroot should be maintained below 70℉. When temperatures surpass 80℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, curl, become prone to sunburn, and in severe instances, the whole plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot shaded from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
