Signs of Cold Temperatures in Common sassafras
Symptoms
Common sassafras tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures are above 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, while no immediate changes might be seen in winter, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of High Temperatures in Common sassafras
Symptoms
In summer, Common sassafras should be maintained below 80℉. When temperatures go above 90℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in color, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
