Signs of Cold Stress in Common chickweed
Symptoms
Common chickweed tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures are above 50℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 32℉. If temperatures drop below 28℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that did not sprout.
Signs of Heat Stress in Common chickweed
Symptoms
In summer, Common chickweed should be kept below 77℉. When temperatures exceed 86℉, leaves may lighten, curl, suffer sunburn, and in severe cases, the plant may wilt and dry out completely.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
