Signs of Cold Temperatures in Poison ivy
Symptoms
Poison ivy tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 75℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 60℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of High Temperatures in Poison ivy
Symptoms
In summer, Poison ivy should be maintained below 86℉. When temperatures surpass 93℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
