Signs of Cold Stress in Siberian elm
Symptoms
Siberian elm tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while winter might show no immediate effects, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that have not produced new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Siberian elm
Symptoms
During summer, Siberian elm should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 90℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
