Catawba rosebay (Rhododendron catawbiense)

The Catawba rosebay, or Rhododendron catawbiense, is frequently grown as an ornamental plant in North America and Europe. Typically, it reaches a height of about 3 meters, although it can sometimes grow as tall as 5 meters. In the United States, this species is predominantly found in the Appalachian Mountains.
